THE SCHOOL EXPERIENCE

2016 SCHOOL - FAQS2016 SCHOOL - FAQS

Tell me a little about the process.

I offer parents a custom, candid and boutique option for school portraits and pride myself on capturing a technically sound photograph that accentuates each child’s individual personality. I do not believe in forcing a smile and thrive on authenticity and natural expressiveness. I feel that parents are craving this service in order to mark these fleeting school memories and know that this program is a definite value added to your school. Orders are completed prior to the school photography event and I photograph all the portraits myself. My goal is to minimally interrupt classroom schedules and provide a unique product to your families through my innovative portrait system.

What do you need from the school?

I will need just a few items from you, including classroom rosters, daily classroom schedules, a map of the school, and a list of any special instructions or sensitive information you think may be pertinent. Also, if your school utilizes a mass email system to notify parents of various announcements, I would love to take advantage of that once or twice during this process to remind and encourage participation in our program. If additional items pop up along the way, I will be sure to communicate those needs with you.

I will also request assistance collecting payments for image orders and with organizing students for their portraits during photo week, but strive to keep this as simple and hassle free as possible for all school staff.

Where do you take the pictures?

I shoot exclusively outdoors, preferably under some type of canopy or breezeway. I would like to work with you in the weeks preceding our shoot to determine together the best possible places for photographing. Safety is my first priority, second only to ideal lighting conditions, which are best achieved by the use of natural sunlight. I am not able to shoot indoors due to my unique setup.

Will we have to re-schedule for inclement weather?

It is not likely that we will have to make adjustments because of the weather, but in the case where there is rain, strong wind or unsafe conditions, it may be in our best interest to select another day. Clouds will not deter me, unless it is extreme cloud cover. Rain will only keep me photographing your students if it is intense and windy. I will make every effort to stay on schedule despite the weather.

How do parents pay you?

Order forms will be sent two weeks prior to school photo week and parents will have three days to submit their form and payment. Orders and payments will be collected once forms are received and I work with you to create a portrait schedule that best works for your school.  I request that teachers assist with the payment collection process by accepting payments from students on specific dates. I recommend that your school also tracks the orders that are received to ensure double verification and accurate records.

How long does the whole process take?

After I complete photographing the school, it will take approximately 3 weeks for parents to receive their digital orders and 6-8 weeks to receive their print orders. Your school will receive any included images for the yearbook within 6-8 weeks of your photography week. I will personally deliver all of the products to the school.

What does it cost for the families?

I offer both print packages as well as digital negatives, where parents can print themselves. Our smallest portrait print packages are 60 SR, and our digital negative collections begin at 170 SR. Class photos are available as a 8x10" print and costs 40 SR.

Will the school need to hire an assistant for you?

Due to the unique challenges of school photography in Saudi Arabia it can be a struggle to find an available assistant to accompany me for school portrait week.  I request the help of one or two parents/school staff members to assist with notifying classrooms and organizing students to ensure a seamless process.

How many options do parents get?

I offer three different print packages and one digital negative collection. Parents also have the option to register for sibling portraits with the same package types available for sibling portraits. Class photos are available for purchase as well.

Do parents have to participate?

Participation is not required. Only students who have submitted paid orders in advance of photo week will be photographed and parents who do not wish to participate are not obligated.
