Once you contact me, you can expect to hear from me right away. I'll send you a welcome email with further information including location and session date options to help pick what works for you. The location you choose will help shape the way your images look (both the lighting and the mood) so I'll provide you with sample images of locations to help you decide. You'll also receive a link to the booking questionnaire which will help me begin planning your portrait session.

If you have a specific idea of your session, I would LOVE for you to share it with me. Special items such as props, accessories or any sentimental items add a personal touch and can add even more meaning to your memories. If there's anything you would like to include in your session or if you've seen an image that inspires you, please let me know in advance so I can plan effectively.

If you or a family member has fallen ill with the flu, a cold or has been injured leading up to your session, it's best that we reschedule for a time everyone is feeling better. I am more than happy to work with you to find an alternative date and time that suits your schedule.

Your Portrait Session

It's my goal to provide you with timeless images that you and your family will love and enjoy for many years. I want to capture your family's true spirit through the shared laughter, hugs, and playful interactions that make your family shine.

Outdoor Locations

We'll spend part of the session walking around the location in search of pleasing sun-kissed spots to make pictures. Your session will be a combination of posed and candid images. Please don't be afraid to play with your kids and interact together as a family and not feel pressured to pose at all times throughout your session. Some of the best photos I've caught are during genuine moments when everyone forgets I'm there.

In Your Home

Your at home session can be anytime that works best for you and your family, but it's recommended that there be plenty of natural light shining through your windows. We'll pick a few rooms in your home to use for the session, but I tend to favor using the master bedroom, living room and nursery. Your outdoor space may work well too if it's not too hot outside and has partial shade.

After Your Session

I take many images during our time together to capture your amazing story. Following your session, I cull these images and select the very best for you to proof which will be available for viewing within two weeks of your session. Your proofed images have been lightly edited (but are not the finished product), and are presented to you via your own private online gallery. You'll have at least 40 images from which to make your selection. From this gallery, you'll have two weeks to view and select the images you'd like to order (all session packages include a specific number of images, but additional full resolution files can be ordered and image products are also available.

Once you've sent your selection list to me, the chosen images will be hand retouched and provided to you in both color and black & white digital files. Editing includes color enhancements and skin retouching. I sometimes receive requests for edits outside my normal scope of work. Please contact me if you would like to discuss.

You'll then be able to download your chosen full resolution digital edited files (in JPEG format) within two to three weeks of ordering via your private gallery. Access to your gallery will remain available to you for two months. Please be sure to download your digital files and back them up appropriately.

Consumer Lab Recommendation

When selecting a lab for printing, the only photographic lab I recommend is I stand behind the quality of all standard print enlargements up to 16” square.

If you are interested in Studio products, such as Fine Art Canvases, I strongly suggest you print those through Erin Clayton Photography to retain full image integrity in addition to product preservation. The lab you choose to print your images will have a drastic effect on the final product.

Your files are all hand edited and professionally retouched images that are ready for immediate printing, as is. Do not alter or change your image in any way. Upon checkout with MPIX, be sure to select the “no color correction” option. Erin Clayton Photography is not responsible for any printing results at any photographic lab, other than Thank you for your understanding.
