Graduation photography in Victoria, BC — studio and outdoor sessions for high school and university grads.

I've been photographing graduates in Victoria since 2018 and professionally since 2012. Studio sessions. Outdoor sessions. The kind where it's just you looking like yourself at this exact moment, and the kind where your whole family crowds in because they want to be part of it too.

This is a chapter worth documenting properly.

photographer for families victoria bc about erin

I've been photographing families outdoors on Vancouver Island since 2018, and professionally since 2012. I work only in natural light, in the conditions that flatter real people in real outdoor spaces.

Since 2012 I've photographed hundreds of families. I've worked with shy toddlers, camera-averse dads, families mid-chaos, and kids who had absolutely no interest in cooperating. Not one session has ever fallen apart because of it.

Over the years I've figured out which Victoria beaches hold the light longest, which fields go gold in September, which park paths feel like somewhere you'd want to remember. That local knowledge is part of what you're getting.

Families tend to arrive a little unsure of themselves and leave surprised at how easy it was. That part never gets old.

FAQ

Common questions about Victoria BC family sessions

Still wondering about something? Feel free to reach out — I'm just an email away and happy to help you figure out what session is the right fit.

Where do family photo sessions take place in Victoria, BC?

Family sessions take place outdoors across Greater Victoria and the surrounding communities — beaches, parks, fields, and forest paths depending on the look you're after and the available light. After you fill out the pre-session questionnaire, I'll suggest locations that make the most sense for your family. Sessions within 30 km of the V9B area are included; travel fees apply beyond that.

What should we wear for family photos?

Once you book, you'll receive my full styling guide. The short version: coordinate without matching, lean toward earthy and muted tones that photograph well in natural light, and layer if the weather might turn. No guessing required — I'll tell you exactly what works before you overthink it.

Are RAW files included with family sessions?

RAW files aren't included — they're the unedited starting point, not the finished product. What you receive is a gallery of professionally edited images in both colour and black and white, ready to download and print as-is.

Do you work with young kids and toddlers?

Yes — and it's genuinely one of my favourite parts of this work. I've been photographing children since 2012 and I know how to work with their energy rather than against it. I'm not trying to get anyone to sit still. I'm watching for the real moments, and they tend to show up quickly once everyone relaxes.

What if it rains on our session day?

Victoria's forecast can be unpredictable, so I watch it closely the morning of every session. If conditions look poor for your scheduled time, I'll reach out and we'll find a better date — no penalties, no stress. Good light matters as much to me as it does to you.

Do you travel outside of Victoria for family sessions?

My outdoor family sessions primarily take place within Greater Victoria and the surrounding communities on Vancouver Island. Travel fees apply for sessions more than 30 km from the V9B area code. If you're visiting Victoria from out of town and want photos while you're here, I can help you find the perfect local spot.

How many photos will we receive?

Each session includes a set number of professionally edited images — the exact number depends on the session you book. After your session, you'll receive a proofing gallery to make your selections. Each chosen image is delivered in both colour and black and white, ready to download. Additional images are available to purchase if you want more.

How long until we receive our family photos?

Your proofing gallery is delivered within three weeks of your session. From there you'll select your images, and your final edited files will be ready to download shortly after.

How do I book a family photographer in Victoria, BC?

Booking is straightforward and you can do it entirely on your own. Choose your desired session above in the packages section, click the booking link, pick a date that works for your family, and pay your deposit to lock it in. The booking form will ask you some questions about your desired session date and once you book, you'll receive a prep guide — everything you need to show up ready. Don't see a date that works? Reach out and I'll do my best to accommodate.
