Family Resources: A Brief Guide to Professional Photo Restrictions

A Brief Guide to Professional Photo Restrictions | Victoria BC Portrait Photographer

Welcome to our brief guide to professional photo restrictions! As photographers, the images we hand over to you are a reflection of our life's work, and it's important to understand the restrictions that come with them. Here are a few key things to keep in mind:

Copyright:

The digital images we provide to you come with a copyright, which means that we retain the right to use those photos to market our work and services in the future. However, we also respect your privacy and are happy to accommodate any requests to keep certain images private. Just let me know ahead of time, and I’ll honor your wishes.

Image type:

Please note that we are not able to provide you with the original raw files of our images. All images given to the client have been cropped and edited. If you require further touch-ups, I’m happy to provide you with a quote.

Image altering:

While we appreciate your business and welcome the sharing of our photos on social media platforms, we kindly ask that you do not alter the images in any way. This includes adding filters, editing photos in Photoshop, removing our logo or studio name, color correcting, or clipping people or objects out of the original shot.

We have these restrictions in place because our photos are a representation of our work and brand in the industry. When a customer alters an image, it directly impacts our name and reputation. Our final images have already gone through our editing process, and we don't believe they require further alterations. Altering images can also misrepresent our original work, which can cause confusion for potential clients.

If you do require specific editing or further alterations, I can provide a quote.

Have a question? Feel free to reach out.
